Questions?

We’ve got answers.

Do I need a degree in teaching to enroll?

Nope. That’s exactly what this program is for. No matter what bachelor’s degree you have, your subject matter expertise, combined with your successful completion of our program, makes you eligible to teach. We’ll teach you what you need to know and do in order to be a successful teacher yourself.

How long until I’m in the classroom teaching?

That is up to you. It could be as little as eight weeks. Our program is paced to get you into a full-time paid position soon, but not too soon. Assessments and training evaluations are built in to make sure you feel ready and able to step into the role.

What extra support do I get as part of THE Campus to K-12?
  • $500 scholarship to offset the financial strain that comes with college debt, a sizable savings over the regular program cost.
  • Two, one-day online training institutes at the beginning of each semester, to further reinforce aspects of practical preparation
  • A virtual, small group professional learning community, led by an experienced instructional coach utilizing our video platform to accelerate your teaching skills
What is the application process?

The first step is to complete an online application – click here to apply. There are two parts – be sure to complete both. Once you’ve submitted your application, you have just two more tasks One: provide evidence of your graduation and GPA by providing a transcript. (You can find detailed instructions on how to do that here) Two: complete a short course and pass a related 10-question quiz. Access to the course will be provided to you once you submit your application.

How soon can I secure a teaching job?

In Texas, you will then need to (i) complete three more courses (which you will have access to via the portal once you are accepted) (ii) complete your content (subject) exams (see more below) and (iii) complete your 30 observation hours. Once you have successfully completed these additional steps, you will be provided a Statement of Eligibility form which enables a school district to hire you as a full-time teacher (with a full-time salary!) while you complete your residency.

Tell me more about content areas:

iteach Texas is required to identify a content area (subject) for each candidate enrolled in our alternative teacher certification program. See link here for detail on how that is determined.

How do I complete observation hours?

Of the 30 hours, you must have at least 15 in-person hours. As an enrolled iteach candidate, you will have free access to the Teaching Channel’s content subscription plan, and you may use those videos for up to 15 hours of the observation requirement. We have detailed guidance in the introductory coursework on the range of activities for in-person observation
